Haven't seen my porcupine puffer since Sunday...is he dead or just hiding?

I bought him on Saturday and he was fine all day. I fed him some Krill and he ate some but Sunday afternoon he disappeared and I haven't seen him since. I don't know if he was dead if it would taint my tank.
