Why didn't Harry Potter use the time turner to save Cedrick?

In the Goblet of Fire (movie or book), why didn't Harry Potter just use the time turner to save Cedrick Diggory which he used to save Sirius and Buckbeak? If I remember right, the time turners weren't destroyed until the following book (a cheesy plot device imo but anyway...)
