Why do so many people think athiests are going to hell?

Ok, im not completely athiest... I believe there is somthing in us that makes us want to be good people... love, truth, courage, etc... but I dont believe in worshiping a higher being, or a god, because I think, that it's like religious dictatorship. I think hell is like, if youre a bad person, you wont be happy in your after life, but if youre a good person, you'll be happy, plain and simple.
